So why should you consider choosing this charming seaside town as the destination for your next fun family outing? In this guide, we will go over some of the best activities that you and your grandkids can enjoy during your stay in Ventura. Prepare for an exciting outdoor adventure that’s sure to create lifelong memories!
Planning the Adventure
Planning the trip with the grandkids can be a fun, enriching experience – but only if all of the details have been worked out beforehand. Making sure you’re prepared for every eventuality can save headaches and ensure that everyone has an enjoyable time. Remember: organization is key to making memories!
When planning your Ventura Adventure, there are some essential items you’ll want to consider before getting started: destination, lodging, transportation (including car rentals and fuel), budgeting for meals, activities to enjoy and supplies. Take your time mapping out these details in advance – it will make for smoother sailing once the adventure begins.
Destination – Where do you want to take your grandkids? There are various tourist attractions that Ventura has to offer, from vibrant city scenes to plush coastal landscapes. Research activities that everyone in the family will enjoy and plan accordingly.
Lodging – Is a hotel room or rental property best? Do one or both need to be furnished or pet-friendly? With so many options available online, it is much easier than ever before to select your ideal accommodation before heading out on vacation.
We, of course suggest your stay and House of Verrett Beach Villa-Ventura for your wonderful adventure. We even have a Concierge Request form that awaits you!
Transportation –Plan ahead for any road trips that you’ll be taking once at your destination by taking care of things like car rentals and fuel costs beforehand. As an added bonus, there are lots of deals available on car rentals!
Budgeting For Meals– Decide ahead of time how meals will be handled while you’re away (e.g., restaurant dining versus home-cooked). Many restaurants offer kid-friendly meals; this could be great way for kids to learn about different cultural cuisine options and try something new!
Activities – How can trips around town be turned into learning experiences? With a little bit of creativity, even seemingly mundane things like grocery shopping can become memory-making moments with the grandkids! Can they help create a grocery list based on what looks most interesting or delicious? Along with connecting with family, think about creative ways to get some education in as well!
Supplies – What items are necessary for packing ahead of time? Have each person make a check list with both needed things such as clothing layers depending upon weather conditions as well as personal preferences like favorite books or comfort items like stuffed animals for younger children. Going over lists together provides another teaching opportunity about being organized before traveling which could come in handy later down the road when they set off on their own venturing missions!
Choosing the Destination
When choosing the destination for a trip with grandkids, it’s important to keep a few key considerations in mind. Consider the age and interests of the children, as well as your own ability to fully enjoy and participate in activities while taking an active role in creating family memories. Depending on these factors, Ventura County offers a variety of options that are sure to please all ages!
Ventura is known for its stunning coastlines and myriad outdoor activities such as camping, visiting local state parks, hiking trails and beaches. The California beaches are often described as those that offer “something for everyone” with their vast selection of things to see and do from playing crafts or building sandcastles on the shore, surfing or swimming lessons at the local beach clubs. Additionally, Ventura has botanical gardens and nature trails filled with captivating scenes perfect for nature lovers.
Exploring downtown Ventura also presents exciting opportunities for kids to learn about history and culture through its shops, galleries, eateries, museums and historic landmarks. Plazas filled with art and interactive displays can offer up-close learning experiences of native habitats while carousels often found on shopping promenades entertain any age group looking for classic fun (and treats!). Make sure you don’t forget to check out their numerous festivals that proudly honor regional cuisine accompanied by craft booths filled with interesting souvenirs!
No matter what you decide to do on your Ventura adventure – there is certainly no shortage of places to explore! Beat boredom together by creating lasting memories where imaginations can run wild – both young and old!

The trip will be even more memorable if you involve your grandkids in making decisions along the way. Invite them to help plan what they’d like to do while they’re there; not only will you give them a say in how to spend their vacation but when they participate in determining their itinerary, they’ll be more connected and invested during the actual trip.

Reflections on the Trip
Reflecting on the experience of taking our grandkids on a Ventura Adventure is a cherished memory of an incredibly rewarding shared experience. On our trip up the gorgeous California coast, we had a chance to witness nature’s beauty in all its majesty. From the early morning sunrise over the Pacific Ocean to an evening spent stargazing along a deserted beach, our time together was filled with special memories.
We also had some amazing travel moments that gave us all something to talk about later including kayaking in a vibrant cove full of sea life; marveling at hundreds of local seabirds roosting at Oxnard Beach Park; and learning more about whales from the knowledgeable guides at Channel Islands National Park. It was incredible how quickly the kids started referring to themselves as professional marine biologists!
From sightseeing and outdoor activities, to tasting palatable seafood for dinner and talking around campfires in the evenings, we made lasting memories during our Ventura Adventure that will stay with us for years to come.
